Coastal Connectionsis Al Paterson's ARC Future Fellowship project which will use historical archaeology to produce new understandings of Australia's Northwest — specifically the Pilbara and Kimberley. The focus is the coast, the offshore islands, and the waters — these are the places where many historical events occurred after 1600. Over 4 years, the regional analysis will include carefully selected archaeological sites and objects, collected objects held in museums, and key historical documents.
Al has also just become the Chair of the Maritime Archaeological Advisory Committee to the WA Museum!
